How to play Animal Crossing in your browser

A quick guide to running the GameCube original on Animal Crossing Online. No installs, no downloads; it all happens in the browser.

What you'll need

  • A modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari) on desktop, phone, or tablet.
  • A GameCube disc image of Animal Crossing you own: a .ciso, .iso, or .gcm file.
  • That's it. No account is required to play, though signing in adds cloud saves.

Step 1. Get your GameCube disc image

We can't host the game itself, since it's Nintendo's copyrighted property, so you bring your own disc image of a copy you own. Dumping a GameCube disc you own produces a .iso, .ciso, or .gcm file. Search "GameCube ISO dumping" for guides, or ask in our Discord.

Step 2. Load the game

Open the Play page and hit Load Game (on desktop you can also drag the file anywhere onto the page). Your disc image is cached locally in your browser the first time, and it's never uploaded to our servers. After that, the game launches straight away.

Step 3. Controls

Play with a keyboard, a connected gamepad, or touch controls.

Q / EL / R triggers

EscPause

Gamepad: connect a controller and it's detected automatically. Mobile: touch controls (a directional pad plus A, B, and Start) appear once the game loads.

Step 4. Save your town

Sign in for cloud saves and your town follows you to any device. The port is compatible with Dolphin emulator saves, so you can import an existing town or export yours to keep playing elsewhere. You can also drop in a Dolphin format HD texture pack from Options.

Playing on mobile

Animal Crossing Online works on iPhone, iPad, and Android. Just open the Play page in your browser and load your disc image. Add the site to your home screen to launch it full screen like a native app.

Troubleshooting

  • Game won't load? Make sure the file is a .ciso, .iso, or .gcm GameCube image.
  • Stuck on a black screen? Reload the page; the first load downloads the WebAssembly engine.
  • Still stuck? The Discord community is happy to help.

That's everything. Time to move to town.
